Its roots inspired the winery\u2019s namesake as the thirteenth bonded winery in California.
\nIt dates to the 1800s when Jean Brun, a native of Bordeaux, and Jean V. Chaix, were one of the first to plant Medoc grapes on the Estate. In 1886, the duo built a three-story gravity-fed winery made of stone. They were innovators and trailblazers during a time that celebrated old traditions, which the PlumpJack Collection felt a special kinship to.

\nThe PlumpJack Collection most recently acquired Oso Vineyard\u2014a sprawling, 129 acre high-elevation site in northeastern Napa Valley, nested between Sugarloaf Mountain and Howell Mountain. Previously owned by the Michael Mondavi Family Estate, the property boasts three lakes, unique for dry Pope Valley, providing an abundant water source for vines while fostering the biodiversity from which its name originates. \u201cOso\u201d is the Spanish word for bear, a reference to the black bears that frequent the vineyard and feast on ripe grapes during fall.
